Building the path from innovation to adoption through the AIVA Network Coalition

May 08, 2026

With the launch of the AIVA Network, a key part of the network is already underway: the AIVA Network Coalition. Bringing together leaders from across Canada’s agriculture and agtech ecosystem, the Coalition is a strategic council dedicated to bridging the gap between agricultural innovation and on-farm adoption.

At its core, the Coalition creates a shared space to align priorities, surface challenges, and advance solutions that work in practice. Canada’s agtech ecosystem is rich with innovation, but efforts are often fragmented. The Coalition works to address this by identifying systemic barriers to adoption, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and accelerating knowledge sharing to enable system-level change and unity across national programs. It also plays a key role in shaping AIVA pilot and demonstration projects, helping innovators better understand on-farm realities while providing producers with greater confidence in emerging technologies.

The strength of the Coalition lies in its diversity. Its members include representatives from industry, research institutions, nonprofits, and investment groups—reflecting the vast ecosystem required to move innovation forward. Today, the Coalition includes over 15 member organizations, including AgSphere, Agricultural Research and Innovation Ontario(ARIO), Bioenterprise, Canadian Agri-Food Automation and Intelligence Network (CAAIN), Canadian Alliance for Net-Zero Agri-food (CANZA), Cultivator, Enterprise Machine Intelligence and Learning Initiative(EMILI), Emmertech, Farm Credit Canada(FCC), Innovation Farms Ontario(IFO) & Haggerty AgRobotics, Old’s College of Agriculture & Technology, Sustainable Food Systems for Canada(SF4C), SVG Ventures THRIVE, Tall Grass Ventures, and Wabash Heartland Innovation Network(WHIN). This breadth ensures that solutions are not only technically sound, but also economically viable and grounded in real operational needs.

On April 24, 2026, the Coalition held its first formal meeting, convening representatives from across Canada. The session focused on building a shared understanding of AIVA’s mission and opened the door to a broader conversation about how this group can work together.

The Coalition is intended to bring collaboration and coherence to all the good work each member is already doing so we can amplify that. It’s inclusive, it’s meant to connect efforts, and it’s something we will continue to build together.

That spirit of collaboration was evident throughout the discussion. Members emphasized the timeliness of the initiative and its strong alignment with work already underway across the sector. Several members also pointed to a growing appetite among farmers to trial new technologies, alongside a need for trusted pathways that reduce uncertainty and build confidence over time.

A key theme that emerged in the meeting was the importance of visibility. For many innovators and farmers alike, navigating the journey from early-stage technology to widespread adoption can be unclear. The AIVA Network—and the Coalition within it—helps define those pathways, offering a more transparent, objective, and structured approach to technology validation and assessment.

Ultimately, the Coalition shares a common goal: identifying the technologies that solve on-farm challenges and supporting their scale across Canadian agriculture. By creating a common space for collaboration, members can develop shared language, align on priorities, and advance projects that benefit the broader system.

The conversation is just beginning. The Coalition will reconvene at Ag in Motion in July 2026, where discussions will continue around knowledge sharing, defining success, and spotlighting emerging companies.

Through continued collaboration, the AIVA Coalition is helping lay the groundwork for a more connected, resilient, and innovation-ready agricultural system.
